We enjoyed a complimentary stay at the Rhett House Inn, a South Carolina bed and breakfast. All opinions are my own.
By now, Rhett House Inn, a bed and breakfast in Beaufort, South Carolina, has become a dear friend of the blog.
You can get 15% off your stay at the Rhett House Inn with promo code CARLEE15 when you book online. I don’t receive a commission when you book—I just asked for a code so you all could experience how wonderful this B&B is.

This South Carolina bed and breakfast is one-of-a-kind, perfecting Southern hospitality in a laidback, tranquil coastal landscape. Here, the birds chirp happier, the people laugh a little harder, and the Aperol Spritz from Lost Local tastes a bit sweeter. I’m not being dramatic—it’s true.
We were guests long before this blog began and have been hosted twice since, staying in both the main house and the cottages.

This time around, we had the pleasure of staying in the Newcastle House. If you’ve been on the grounds of the Rhett House Inn (and I know some of you have), you’ve seen the beautiful white house with the tin red roof. I’ve always thought it looked like a dream. And after staying there this weekend, I can attest that it is.
In fact, the Newcastle House was featured in a 2012 issue of the Southern Living Magazine. And for good reason—the house includes two bedrooms, a living area, a kitchen with a fireplace, a large dining table, a bar, and all the Rhett House Inn’s luxury amenities. It’s perfect for a weekend stay, couples trip, and celebratory events.

Breakfast is a short walk from the Newcastle House, and Chef Beverly’s full menu of Southern classics makes you feel at home in the beautiful antebellum-style bed and breakfast. If you’re an early riser, you can grab a cup of coffee, plop down in one of the plush chairs on the wrap-around veranda, and watch the small town take its morning stretch. Breakfast is served from 8-10:30 a.m. Pancakes, anyone?

Throughout your stay, Rhett House Inn leaves no detail untouched. The bed and breakfast includes amenities like private en suite bathrooms (a must), beach cruiser bicycles (a favorite), books, beach towels, beach chairs and a pass for Hunting Island State Park. And if breakfast isn’t enough, they offer afternoon iced tea and homemade cookies, evening hors d’oeuvres and nightly homemade desserts.
The bed and breakfast is also within walking distance of Beaufort’s downtown historic district. And since this is a well-versed topic on the blog, I’ve made you a list of the places we frequent. Here we go!

Shopping
These are just a few of my favorites!
- The Social Betty
- Scout Southern Market
- Lulu Burgess
- M Interiors
- Rhett Gallery
- Olive the Above
- Nevermore Books
Restaurants
There are many more restaurants in the area, but these are the ones we know and love.
- Lost Local — for the best tacos and, as mentioned above, the best Aperol Spritz and margarita
- Old Bull Tavern — a local favorite and close to the bed and breakfast
- Saltus River Grill — this one is on the expensive side, but well worth it
- Fish Camp on 11th Street (Port Royal) — my family’s favorite
- Madison’s (Port Royal) — another fan favorite
- Lowcountry Produce — the cutest spot for lunch
- Lowcountry Cider and Superior Coffee — for coffee, snacks, smoothies, and canned goods to take home (we love the location on the way to Hunting Island State Park, but there’s one in downtown Beaufort too)
- The Chocolate Tree — rumor has it Tom Hanks ate lots of chocolate from The Chocolate Tree during the filming of Forrest Gump
Get Outside
- Visit the beach at Hunting Island State Park
- Go on a historic carriage tour with Southern Rose
- Take the Rhett House Inn’s beach cruiser bicycles for a ride through the historic district
- Take a walk along the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park

To us, there’s only one place to stay. We have made lasting memories at the Rhett House Inn, and we know some of you have too. So book your stay (code CARLEE15 for 15% off) and let them know we sent you.

2 years agoWhat a lovely review! The Rhett House Inn sounds like the perfect escape. After cleaning out my yard (it was so bad we needed a dumpster rental!), I’m definitely ready for a relaxing getaway. The Newcastle House looks like a dream, and I can’t wait to reward myself with some Southern hospitality. Thanks for sharing!
