We enjoyed complimentary stays at the Rhett House Inn, a South Carolina bed and breakfast. All opinions are my own.
If you’re looking for a charming and relaxing bed and breakfast in the heart of one of South Carolina’s most beautiful towns, Rhett House Inn in Beaufort is the place to be. We’ve had the pleasure of visiting several times, and each trip has been better than the last. Most recently, Asher, my mom, maw maw, and I stayed at this lovely inn, enjoying in the Southern charm and hospitality that keeps us coming back.

A Charming Stay at Rhett House Inn
Rhett House Inn is the epitome of Southern hospitality. From the moment we arrive, we feel like part of the family. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating, always going the extra mile to ensure guests have a memorable stay. This visit, Asher and I stayed in the Newcastle House, a private, beautifully restored property just a short walk from the main house. The house includes two guest rooms with private ensuite bathrooms, a full kitchen, living and dining room area, plus a screened-in porch (perfect for keeping away pesky mosquitoes in the warmer months). It’s the perfect place for a family getaway or girls’ trip.
My mom and maw maw stayed in the main house, where the rooms are equally inviting. Traditional decor and luxurious touches make the rooms feel like a home away from home. We love the convenience of the main house—everything from breakfast to nightly hors d’oeuvres are served in the main house.
We’ve stayed in the cottages (which include a pet-friendly room), the main house and the Newcastle House, and we love them all!

Dining at the Rhett House Inn
One of the highlights of staying at Rhett House Inn is the food. Every morning, guests are treated to a delicious breakfast prepared by Chef Beverly. Whether you’re craving a traditional southern breakfast of bacon, hashbrowns and eggs, decadent blueberry pancakes, or yogurt parfait, breakfast here never disappoints. We hear everything pairs well with a mimosa.
In the afternoon, the inn also offers freshly baked cookies and sweet tea. Evenings bring charcuterie and cocktails at the bar, with a selection of cheeses, meats, and accompaniments, perfect as an appetizer before you walk to dinner.
And let’s not forget the nightly desserts. From chocolate cakes to pies, these sweet treats are a perfect way to end a day filled with Southern indulgence.

Exploring Beaufort: Shopping, Dining, and More
During our stay, we made sure to spend plenty of time exploring Beaufort’s beautiful downtown area. The streets are lined with charming shops, art galleries, and historic homes, making it a coastal Hallmark town.
The historic downtown area is best explored on one of the inn’s beach cruiser bicycles. We also recommend taking a walk along the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park or using the inn’s complimentary passes to visit the beach at Hunting Island State Park. (See a full list of the bed and breakfast’s amenities here.)
If you do anything, downtown is a must. We love all the shops in downtown, but if I had to narrow it down to five must-visit places, I would tell you to visit Oyster Cay Collection, Olive the Above, The Social Betty, Bay Street Treasures and M Interiors.
For dinner, we visited two of the best restaurants in the area. The first was Fishcamp on 11th Street, a waterfront restaurant offering fresh seafood in a laid-back atmosphere in Port Royal, a short drive from the Rhett House Inn.
The next evening, we dined at Breakwater, a more upscale restaurant in downtown Beaufort. Breakwater is a must-visit for anyone who loves Southern cuisine with a modern twist.
A few other favorites include Lost Local (all hail the fish taco), Old Bull Tavern, and Saltus River Grill. For coffee and treats, we recommend Lowcountry Produce, Lowcountry Cider and The Chocolate Tree.
