Throwback Thursday: dreaming of sunny Miami days

The past two years I’ve traded my boots for sandals and my sweaters for tank tops, but this year we’re heading north.

As I prepare to stuff my suitcase with sweaters and fuzzy socks, I can’t help but dream of warmer weather, so here’s a look back to some of our favorite Miami moments.

The Miami Design District

The Miami Design District is my absolute favorite place in Miami. There’s something different on every corner. Two of my favorite art pieces are the mural, “Jungle,” and Buckminster Fuller’s “Fly’s Eye Dome” (pictured above). The district includes restaurants, home design showrooms, fine art galleries and fashion boutiques. The artwork is limitless, and the stores are designer – need I say more?

Wynwood Walls

Wynwood Walls is a huge area (over 80,000 square feet) full of graffiti art from some of the world’s most renowned graffiti artists. This is the perfect place to snag a photo for Instagram. Click here to learn more about the artists and their creations.

South Beach

A trip to Miami must include a stroll through the Lincoln Road Mall. It’s a great place to grab a bite to eat and shop, and it leads straight to South Beach. We stopped for macarons (and some people watching) at Ladurée, of course.

OTL

OTL is my favorite place to grab a latte or something quick to eat in the Miami Design District. They serve sandwiches, salads, baked goods and coffee to name a few.

A La Folie & Miam

A La Folie is one of my favorite restaurants I’ve been to in Miami. The atmosphere is laid back, the crêpes are excellent, and the resident cat meandering in and out of the restaurant to greet all the customers is the best part (but don’t worry – it’s clean with no cat hair in sight).

Our choice of brunch near the Wynwood Walls is definitely MIAM. They have food and coffee, and if you need a snack while you view the graffiti, I recommend the homemade pastries. The restaurant is located in the white and black striped building. You really can’t miss it.
