Here’s my Rhett House Inn review from our girls’ trip.

Why This Is the Beaufort, SC Bed and Breakfast to Book for a Girls’ Trip
I’ve stayed at this Beaufort, SC bed and breakfast more times than I can count. I’ve visited for trips with my family, my mom, my husband, and this time around, I went for a fun girls’ trip with one of my gal pals. Beaufort, SC, might be the most underrated girls’ trip destination in the South. It’s small enough to explore entirely on foot or bike, slow enough that you can take time to relax, and just far enough off the beaten path that it doesn’t feel like every other coastal town you’ve seen on Instagram.
If you’re weighing places to stay in Beaufort, SC for a trip like this, here’s why I keep coming back to the same bed and breakfast over and over.

Rhett House Inn Review: Where Should You Stay in Beaufort SC?
The Rhett House Inn is a circa-1820 antebellum-style home in the heart of downtown Beaufort, with wraparound verandas, Live Oaks dripping in Spanish moss, and a level of hospitality that’s hard to find anywhere else. For a girls’ trip specifically, a few things make it stand out among Beaufort, SC bed and breakfast options:
- You’re walking distance from just about everything. Downtown shops, restaurants, and the waterfront park are all a short walk or bike ride away. Plus, you’re a block away from the main street and far enough away to eliminate any noise.
- The porch is your girls’ trip destination. Comfy chairs, views of Spanish Moss swaying in the breeze, and evening hors d’oeuvres make for the best gathering spot before heading out for dinner.
- Breakfast is an event, not an afterthought. Chef Beverly’s Southern menu served on the veranda or in the dining room is the perfect way to start a day of exploring. She’s known for her blueberry pancakes and French toast, both made with love and 16 years of experience cooking at the Rhett House.
- Lots of guest room options to choose from. The Rhett House Inn offers options to stay in the Main House, Newcastle House, and Cottages. I love all three! If you want two queen beds for a girls’ trip, book Room 7 or 8 in the Main House. Room 7 has garden access.

What We Did on Our Girls’ Trip to Beaufort, SC
This trip, Lizzy and I visited a few new-to-me places in Beaufort. We decided to go antiquing and found some gems on the Island. We visited Vintage Cargo (my favorite) and Macdonald MarketPlace on St. Helena Island. We also visited Where’d You Get That in Port Royal. And of course, a trip to Beaufort wouldn’t be complete without a stop at Grayco, a hardware store in Beaufort with the most beautiful home finds.
We also wanted to get our toes in the sand, so we made a quick trip to Hunting Island State Park, about 30 minutes from the Rhett House Inn. What I love about this Beaufort, SC bed and breakfast is that it provides beach towels, beach chairs, and a state park pass. We grabbed a pass and took in the lighthouse and ocean views.
Pro tip: Make sure you stop by The Kitchen beside Grayco for coffee, lunch, or some picnic items for your island adventure.
It also would not be a girls’ trip if you didn’t go shopping on Bay Street. Favorite stops include Lulu Burgess, Olive the Above, The Blue Heron, M Interiors, and Rhett Gallery.
